Gastrointestinal phlegm stagnation >
Symptoms
Gastrointestinal phlegm-stasis disorder does not just have digestive symptoms – it also accompanies systemic problems. For example, someone would say, “I get a headache and have shoulder pains whenever I have indigestion.” This is because the cause of this disorder, phlegm toxins, spread through the weak parts in the body through blood vessels and lymphatic vessels.

7. Diagnosis of neurogenic gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome from testing
14. Frequent urination, heavy stomach after using restroom

The reason for burping is because the stomach cannot digest the food. This is caused by weak stomach and intestines or significantly reduced peristalsis of these organs. Those with a serious myasthenia gastrica and phlegm stagnation burp even on an empty stomach. At this point, none of the medical therapies works.
The western medicine classify this symptoms as GERD, but the treatment does not work well. Therefore, the three treatments below are applied simultaneously.
- Medical treatment of myasthenia gastrica is not easy. Therefore, Weedahm uses two medicines to strengthen the gastrointestinal muscles to improve myasthenia gastrica and sufficiently supply blood to these organs.
- When the phlegm in the gastrointestinal muscularis layer has been removed and the stiffened tissues become soft again, the movement becomes active and burping stops. Check out the full text for treatment of gastrointestinal phlegm stagnation
A lot of patients cannot sleep at night because of heartburn, and some always have to keep the stomach full because they feel the heartburn when they don’t. They administer medicine that controls gastric acid, but the effect only lasts temporarily. They are worried about their disease worsening from the long-term use of gastric acid medication.
These symptoms just do not happen from simple excessive gastric acid secretion – they happen because the ability to react to the gastric acid has declined. The stomach has the self-defensive ability to protect itself from being damaged by gastric acid as sufficient blood is supplied from the resin called mucin. However at night or on an empty stomach, such defensive secretion is reduced to cause heartburn. The decision on administration of gastric acid controlling medication must be made carefully.
The ability to defend against the gastric acid should be improved by supplying the resin and blood sufficiently to the gastrointestinal mucous membranes. A long-term use of gastric acid controlling medication may lead to a disorder of gastric acid secretion, which plays a major role in food digestion and maintenance of clean environment in the stomach, and creates a condition that causes gastrointestinal diseases.
Therefore, the three treatments below are applied simultaneously.
- Phlegm toxins may block the blood vessels of the gastrointestinal muscularis layer or secretion of resin to cause heartburn. Removal of phlegm toxins recovers active blood circulation and resin secretion to normalize the defensive ability.
- In Korean medicine, mucin is generated in the kidneys and spleen to be supplied to the stomach and is maintained through active blood supply from the heart. However, over working and stress, and hwapyung dry out the resin in the spleen and slow down blood supply from the heart to cause anemia and lack of resin in the stomach. And these lead to pain on an empty stomach or atrophic gastritis. When blood and resin are sufficiently supplied through enhanced Yin function of the kidneys and spleen to accelerate resin secretion and improved blood circulation of the heart, the stomach recovers its defensive ability, and the symptoms like heartburn at night and pain from the empty stomach disappear.
Patients complain of symptoms of feeling irritated or sputum in the throat after eating just a little. In a serious case, some feel these symptoms in their chest and back that they even visit the emergency room thinking that it might be angina. However, nothing is found from the gastrointestinal, heart, and lung tests that they cannot get the diagnosis nor treatment. In some cases, patients feel the symptoms when they have not eaten anything or slightly concerned about an issue that they cannot even sleep properly on their back and endure the situation by taking medicines like tranquilizer.
These symptoms occur because the part from the esophagus to the stomach just below the solar plexus has become stiffened – gastrointestinal phlegm-stasis disorder – that they cannot send the food down to the stomach. When phlegm stagnation is serious, the toxins spread to the chest and even to the back and shoulders to cause feel stiff.
Other than the gastrointestinal phlegm-stasis disorder, these symptoms may happen from adynamia of the gastrointestinal tract – esophagus to the large intestine. When the gastrointestinal tract is weak, food cannot go down and there is irritation in the throat, a pressure on the chest and the solar plexus, bloated feeling, and yawning.
In this case, generally used gastrointestinal medicine, prokinetic drug, and medicines for GERD do not soothe the symptoms. Instead, the body cannot absorb these medicines and causes an adverse effect.
The phlegm in the entire gastrointestinal tract needs to be removed, and the function of the gastrointestinal tract must be strengthened, because if not, the adynamia of the stomach and the intestines may worsen or the gastrointestinal tract may get more clogged in the process of treatment. Removal of phlegm must be done with sufficient supply of blood and resin.
Weedahm Oriental Hospital has developed Korean medicine prescription to cure serious adynamia and strengthen the intestines – fermentation of special microorganism to solve malabsorption and digestive problems. This treatment has successfully treated a disease that was considered intractable both in western and oriental medicine.
Some people get an upset stomach from slight overeating or slight over working and stress. They prick their finger with a needle every time or receive different treatments, but the symptom remains and the patient cannot eat properly.
There are three reasons to this symptom.
First is the long-standing symptom of dyspepsia,
Second is weak stomach and intestines,
Third is weak heart function that leads to sensitivity to stress.
Long-standing symptom of dyspepsia is from untreated indigestion that had occurred in the past from overeating, binge eating or eating before sleep. In this case, the part beneath the solar plexus – that is, the cardia – stiffens and the patient always get an upset stomach. The symptom also occurs when the stomach and intestines are weak, and this is similar to what causes burping, irritation in the throat, and pressure on the chest. When the heart is weak, the heart contracts even with a slight stress or under a tense situation that it fails to supply enough blood to the stomach and intestines. This causes a temporary anemia in the organs and a gastrointestinal disorder.
- A long-standing dyspepsia symptom can be diagnosed by a doctor through abdominal diagnosis (touching the abdomen to diagnose). Once a patient is found to have a long-standing symptom of dyspepsia, the phlegm stagnation treatment begins by switching the food consumed into liquid food. After this symptom is removed, the patient will barely experience the symptom again as long as the patient watches the food he or she consumes.
- For treatment of adynamia, see never-ending burping.
- Patients who get an upset stomach from the slightest stress have a weak heart. By using medication that strengthen the heart, the stress gastrointestinal disease can be treated as blood supply will no longer be an issue even under stress.
